Ballot Measure - Chicken Ordinance

The following measure regarding owning chickens in the City will be on the City election ballot June 9, 2026:
Should the City of Rutland permit residents to apply for a license to keep up to three (3) female chickens (hens) within city limits, provided they comply with the requirements outlined in a proposed new Article 3, Chapter 11 of the Rutland City Ordinances?
A “yes” vote would allow residents to keep up to three hens with an approved permit and in accordance with city regulations.
A “no” vote would prohibit the keeping of chickens or other fowl within the City of Rutland.
The proposed Ordinance will be posted at the Senior Citizens Center, the Sargent County Bank in Rutland and at City Hall. Copies of a proposed Ordinance are available by request to rutlandnd@drtel.net.
