City Election 2026

This June, 2026, residents will have the opportunity to elect individuals to the Rutland City Council and the Rutland Park Board. Individuals now have the opportunity to apply to run for the positions and to have their name on the ballot.
A candidate for a city office must turn in a completed SFN 2074 Petition/Certification of Nomination and a completed SFN 10172 Statement of Interest to the City Auditor by the above deadline date and time. All forms are available at City Hall located at 115 Gay Street, by email to rutlandnd@drtel.net or they may be obtained online at https://www.sos.nd.gov/elections/candidate
Notice is hereby given that the deadline for filing to have a candidate's name printed on the ballot for the City of Rutland is 4 p.m. April 6, 2026. Completed forms must be submitted to the Rutland City Auditor by that deadline. At approximately 4:15 p.m., the order of the candidate names on the ballot will be drawn by the Auditor.
The following Rutland city offices are up for election:
- Two City Council Members - four-year terms
- One City Council Member – two-year term
- Two Park Board Members - four-year term
The City will also have an Ordinance issue on the ballot to allow up to three chickens, not roosters, within the City limits. Residents will vote either yes to allow chickens or no to not allow chickens in the City. The exact wording of the proposed Ordinance is being drafted. The proposed Ordinance will be discussed at a future Council meeting. The draft Ordinance will be posted online and at City Hall and other locations as soon as it is available.
