Sanitation & Recycling

The City of Rutland contracts with an outside waste management company for solid waste collection and recycling. Everyone within the city limits is required to have garbage collection and all residential customers within the city limits are required to have recycling collection. Please contact City Hall at 724-3081 to have service started or to change your service.

Most trash and debris, when properly bundled and/or contained properly, can be disposed of at curbside with your regular garbage service days. If you a replacement container, please contact the City Office. If you have questions for the city, please do not hesitate to contact us.

What can I recycle and when is the pickup day?

Recycling is picked up on Tuesday of the third full week of the month. The schedule is posted on the website. Please check the information from Waste Management about what you can and cannot recycle that is shown on the Sanitation & Recycling page.
