Sanitation & Recycling
The City of Rutland contracts with Waste Management for solid waste collection and recycling. Everyone within city limits is required to have garbage collection and all residential customers within the city limits are required to have recycling collection. Please contact City Hall at 724-3081 to have service started or to change your service.
Most trash and debris, when properly bundled and/or contained properly, can be disposed of at curbside with your regular garbage service days. If you need a replacement container, please contact the City Office. If you have questions for the city, please do not hesitate to contact us.
The City has a municipal waste site for disposal of grass clippings, trees and branches and white goods. Call the number posted at the gate for access or to schedule a time.
NOTE: The Rutland Park Board has a pop can collection site in the alley behind City Hall. Pop cans should be placed in garbage bags and can be dropped off anytime, year-round. The Park Board recycles the cans and receives a small amount of money. Support the Park Board!
The 2024 Recycling schedule is available below. Pickup is the third Tuesday of each month EXCEPT in October when recycling will be collected on the fourth Tuesday of the month. [Pickup is the third full week of the month, on Tuesday.]
For questions specific to trash or recycling pick up that are not addressed here, please call Waste Management directly.
